Exclusive: Club demand 'a few days' to get Chelsea transfer back on track after major change

Our sister site Caughtoffside have a really interesting exclusive from Italian insider Rudy Galetti focused on AC Milan and their trouble behind the scenes and how that affects Chelsea.

Owner Gerry Cardinale took the surprising decision to sack sporting director Ricky Massara and technical director Paolo Maldini, leaving Milan and all their pending negotiations totally up in the air.

One of those deals was with Chelsea for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and as we reported earlier today, a meeting with the midfielder’s agents with Maldini was scheduled for just hours after the sacking.

Galetti’s piece claims that the Italian club have asked for “a few days” to get their house in order before they proceed, but Chelsea will be concerned.

It may well be that RLC was a signing being driven by the two removed from Milan, and given he’s a big money buy by their standards, the new faces brought in to replace them may feel very differently.

Certainly if the owner has booted Massara and Maldini because he wasn’t happy with how his money was being spent, there’s got to be a good chance that he wants to cancel all the pending deals they had lined up too.

There will be plenty of other takers for Ruben either way, but the way things are going, his sale is no longer likely to be the first major one we make this summer.
