Anthony Edwards makes bold claim regarding partnership with Karl-Anthony Towns

Anthony Edwards is a budding superstar. He's already making waves in the postseason. His back-and-forth with Kevin Durant during the Minnesota Timberwolves' opening victory over the Phoenix Suns went viral for all the right reasons.

There's no denying that Edwards is incredibly confident. Everyone can see the swagger he plays with on the court and the braggadocious demeanor he carries himself with.

So, it should be no surprise that he made a bold claim when speaking with journalist Taylor Rooks in a recent interview. When asked to describe his partnership with All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns, Edwards claimed they were the best duo in the NBA.

"The best," Edwards said. "I mean, we're a one-two punch. He can go to the post, I can go to the post. He can shoot the three. I can shoot the three. I can defend. He can defend. With your best player, which is KAT, sharing the ball, getting off offensively, and moving it around, I think it flows throughout the whole team. Everybody got to do it."

Edwards is in his fourth NBA season. He made his second All-Star appearance in February. His production has improved every year. Now, he's proving himself to be one of the best scorers in the NBA. He plays with a fearlessness that is perfect for postseason success. Pairing him with a floor-spacing big man like Towns is perfect.

By situating Towns on the perimeter, Edwards has additional room to pressure the rim with his exceptional athleticism. We've also seen a growing pick-and-roll game between the pair, rapidly becoming difficult to stop.

Nevertheless, Edwards will likely receive some pushback from around the league. There are many dangerous one-two punches in the NBA. LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard are just three of the top trios in the NBA. Edwards and Towns will need to prove they belong in that discussion.

Edwards is supposed to have that level of confidence, though. That's who he is. It's what makes him special. Now, though, he will need to back up that talk by helping the Timberwolves overcome the Suns and make a push for the Western Conference Finals. Only then can we start to believe he and Towns are among the best one-two punches in the NBA.
